Treasurer's report:.$5,622.26. Motion to accept by Rosemary Pasteris, seconded by Barbara Pugh. Treasurer's report accepted.
Scholarships: Rosemary Pasteris says applications are now ready for our local scholarships, available to all THS & TuHS high school seniors as well as members’ children & grandchildren. Applications are available at the two high school counseling departments or through rpasteris@ttsd.k12.or.us. Deadline is April 24th.
Donna & Diana Miller will be working on our webpage through the AFT site. This scholarship application may soon be available on the webpage.
Classified of the Year: Vicki Weckert tells us all finalists will be on the ballot you’ll be getting through inter school mail. Check the membership list to hold elections, as only OSEA members can vote, and then send all ballots back to Vicki @Metzger. Top three winners will appear on final ballot, when only building reps vote (one per building/location). Finalist will be announced at our May meeting when all finalists and their principal/administrators are invited to attend.
Executive Officer nominations held for the second meeting. President: Donna Crane and Paula Kingsbury; Vice President: Vicki Weckert; Treasurer: Megan Ause and Dave Jensen, Secretary: Rosemary Pasteris.
Names will be taken at the next meeting before we actually vote for 2009-2010 officers. You can contact an officer or come nominate yourself at that meeting if you're interested. Election committee will include Barbara Pugh, Lynette Venheim, and Mary Addison.
OSEA Conference: will be held June 25, 26, 27 at Salem's Phoenix Grand Hotel adjacent to the convention center. We need 10 member delegates and at least 2 alternates to go from our chapter. Nominees from this meeting include: Donna Crane, Paula Kingsbury, Barbara Pugh, Vicki Weckert, Elbert Garboden, Dave Jensen, and Rosemary Pasteris. If you are interested becoming a delegate or alternate please ask any of the executive board members for more information, and/or come to the next chapter meeting.
Budget Update: Donna gave some background on the budget committee, and what they’re looking at now. Savings last year and this have helped, along with our rainy day fund, moving general fund dollars, and the federal stimulus money. No RIF at this time, non-renewals will go out this spring, nothing certain until the next numbers come on April 25th. If you hear of any RIF going on, notify Paula. Can also send any money saving ideas or suggestions to Paula or Donna, as they need discussionand a chapter vote to be considered.
Drawings: Dave Jensen won a $10 Red Robin gift card. Natividad Romero would have won $60. There will be a drawing for $70 at next meeting.
Thanks to Alberta Rider (Mary Addison) for hosting meeting and treats. Next meeting, April 2nd at 4:30, with treats from Marlene Miller.
